about us
The Frodsham Silver Band was formed in 1907, and was originally called the Frodsham Subscription Band. It became known as the Frodsham Silver Band in 1916, and is still going under that name now. The current Bandmaster, Norman Denaro has now conducted the band for nearly 20 years, and has built up a very good reputation for his showmanship.
The band is made up of players of all ages. The youngest member, Katie, is currently 10, whilst the oldest member, Fred, is in his eighties. Players of all abilities are made to feel welcome and valued members of the band, and if they struggle, help is always made available from Norman, who also conducts the Moore Primary School brass band.
The band mainly stick to performing concerts at local venues, including Runcorn Hill Bandstand, Victoria Park Bandstand, Castle Park in Frodsham and various other locations in the Frodsham locality. As a charity, the band are reliant on these concerts as a source of income, as well as holding various other fundraising events throughout the year.
The band celebrated it's centenery last year. Including a fantastic centenery concert in castle park in Frodsham, and a centenery reunion for past and present members. The band was also presented with its very own commemorative march, which was written by Phillip Sparke.
